In recent years, Dehua has been driven by innovation, propelling its ceramic industry onto a fast track of development. It has formed a diversified product system encompassing art porcelain, daily-use porcelain, and master-crafted porcelain. In 2024, the industrial cluster reached a scale of 66.3 billion yuan, employing over 100,000 people and boasting more than 4,500 enterprises, with products exported to over 190 countries and regions. Dehua focuses on platform aggregation, having built six major platforms including a porcelain art city and an e-commerce logistics park; design leadership, with the only national industrial design research institute in the national ceramic industry located there, achieving a design conversion rate as high as 35%; technological empowerment, with 170 high-tech enterprises in the county, and the application rate of intelligent equipment in enterprises above a certain scale exceeding 95%; cultural enrichment, leveraging the Dehua Kiln World Cultural Heritage site to launch the “One City, One Hundred Porcelain Museums Tour,” and hosting events such as the Dehua International Ceramic Culture Week and international touring exhibitions; and brand globalization, constructing a public regional brand system, registering the overseas trademark “BLANCDECHINE,” and actively expanding into international markets.
Su Xianzhong, with his profound artistic attainments and unique creative style, has become a leading figure in the Chinese ceramic art world. His creative career can be divided into several important stages, from his early “Han Opera” themes, to the artistic concept shift in his “Keeping” series, and then to his recent “Impression” and “Paper” series, as well as the large-scale porcelain flower sculpture “Waiting for Flowers to Bloom.” His works not only inherit the essence of traditional ceramic craftsmanship but also incorporate contemporary artistic expressions, forming a unique style that blends classical and modern elements. His works have gained widespread international recognition, and his representative works are collected by world-renowned institutions such as the National Museum of China, the National Art Museum of China, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in the UK, opening up new paths for contemporary Chinese ceramic art.
